HOW MUCH DOES
TOWING COST IN
SASKATCHEWAN?

Honest rate ranges for towing, ditch recovery, boosts, and lockouts in Saskatchewan. What you'll actually pay depends on distance, vehicle size, and the situation — here's a realistic breakdown.

THE QUICK ANSWER

A standard local tow in Saskatchewan runs $100–$150. Highway tows up to 50 km cost $150–$300. Ditch recovery starts around $200 and goes up fast depending on the situation. These are ballpark ranges — every job is different.

WHAT AFFECTS TOWING COST?

There's no single “towing price” — it depends on these factors. Understanding them helps you estimate what you'll pay before you call.

Distance

The biggest factor. Most companies charge a base hookup fee plus a per-kilometre rate. A 10 km tow costs far less than 100 km.

Vehicle Size & Weight

A sedan is cheaper to tow than a dually truck, and both are cheaper than a loaded semi. Heavier vehicles need bigger equipment.

Time of Day

Many companies add surcharges for nights, weekends, and statutory holidays. Ask upfront whether the quote includes after-hours fees.

Road Conditions

Grid roads, mud, snow, and ice all affect difficulty and time. A vehicle stuck on a frozen grid road in January takes longer than a highway breakdown in July.

Season & Weather

Winter is peak season in Saskatchewan. Demand spikes after storms, which can affect availability and response times — not necessarily price, but worth knowing.

Recovery Complexity

A standard hook-and-pull is the cheapest. Winching from a ditch costs more. A rolled vehicle in a field requiring a crane is the most expensive. Flatbed tows cost more than dolly tows.

SASKATCHEWAN TOWING RATES

Ballpark rate ranges based on typical Saskatchewan towing jobs. Actual prices vary by company, equipment, and situation. These ranges reflect what most reputable companies charge as of 2026. All prices listed are before 5% GST.

Local Tow (within city)
$100 – $150

Standard hookup and transport within Saskatoon, Prince Albert, or similar city limits. Price depends on exact distance and vehicle size.

Highway Tow (up to 50 km)
$150 – $300

Most common rate for breakdowns on Highway 11, 12, or 16 between towns. Mileage-based pricing kicks in past the base rate.

Long-Distance Tow (50–200 km)
$300 – $800

Inter-city tows — Saskatoon to Prince Albert, Blaine Lake to Regina, etc. Per-km rate plus base fee. Call ahead for a quote on longer hauls.

Ditch / Mud Recovery
$200 – $500+

Depends heavily on how stuck you are, terrain, vehicle weight, and whether a winch or heavy equipment is needed. Deep mud or rolled vehicles cost more.

Heavy Equipment / Semi
$500 – $2,000+

Loaded semis, farm equipment, RVs, and heavy machinery require specialized trucks and rigging. Price varies widely based on weight and situation.

Battery Boost
$75 – $125

Jump start to get you running again. Quick service — usually 20–30 minutes from dispatch in town.

Lockout Service
$75 – $125

Locked keys in the car. Price varies by vehicle — newer cars with electronic locks can take longer.

After-Hours Surcharge
Varies by company

Some towing companies charge 20–50% more for nights, weekends, and holidays. Bro’s Tows does NOT charge after-hours surcharges — same rate 24/7.

Note: These are industry-typical ranges, not Bro's Tows specific pricing. Wondering if SGI covers your tow? Or need to understand the difference between a flatbed and wheel-lift? If you're scrapping the vehicle anyway, our cash for cars service tows it for free and pays you on the spot. For an exact quote, call or text us with your location and situation — we'll give you a straight number before we roll.

TOW TRUCK COST IN SASKATOON

Most Saskatoon tows fall in the $100–$200 range. Distance from the dispatch yard, destination across the city, and time of day all factor in. Here's what to expect for the common Saskatoon scenarios.

Within Saskatoon (city limits)
$100 – $175

Downtown, university, Stonebridge, Lawson, Sutherland — standard hookup and short transport. Flat tire change or boost calls in town typically sit $75–$125.

Saskatoon ↔ Warman / Martensville / Osler
$150 – $250

Bedroom community tows along Highway 11 and 12. Common breakdown pickup spots are the Warman exit, the Martensville off-ramp, and the Hague turn-off.

Airport (YXE) & perimeter
$120 – $200

Dead battery in the long-term lot, locked keys, or a no-start after a flight landing late. We dispatch direct to YXE; pickup-to-drop within the city is typical.

Saskatoon ↔ Blaine Lake / Prince Albert
$300 – $550

Highway 12 corridor tows and Hwy 11 north runs. Per-km rate plus base hookup. For a long-haul to PA or back, call for a firm quote — we'll lock it in.

Watch out for predatory towing in Saskatoon

Some operators charge $400–$800 for a routine city tow after a collision, roll your vehicle to a yard you didn't agree to, and add storage fees of $75–$150 per day. If you're in a non-injury collision and not blocking traffic, you have the right to choose your own tow company — you don't have to use whoever shows up first.

Get a written quote before you sign anything. Ask where your vehicle is being towed and the daily storage rate. If SGI is covering the tow, they pay a fixed rate — anything above that comes out of your pocket.

Our Saskatoon pricing policy
  • · Same rate 24/7 — no after-hours surcharge, no holiday markup, no weekend premium.
  • · Written quote before dispatch — you know the number before the truck rolls.
  • · Cash, debit, credit, and direct SGI billing — same price either way.
  • · $75 service-call fee if we arrive and the tow is cancelled or no longer needed.
  • · All prices before 5% GST.

HOW TO SAVE ON TOWING

A few things that can reduce what you pay — or avoid needing a tow altogether.

CAA Membership

CAA covers towing for breakdowns (not collisions — that’s SGI). Basic plan covers 10 km, Plus covers 200 km. If you drive rural highways regularly, Plus pays for itself after one tow.

SGI Collision Coverage

If you’re in an accident with an active SGI claim, towing from the collision scene is typically covered. This only applies to collisions — not breakdowns, dead batteries, or getting stuck.

Keep Jumper Cables & a Tow Strap

A $40 set of cables and a $30 recovery strap can save you a service call. If a neighbour or passing truck can give you a boost or a pull, you’re back on the road for free.

Know Your Exact Location

Drop a GPS pin before you call. “I’m 12 km south of Blaine Lake on Highway 12” gets us there faster than “I’m somewhere on the highway.” Faster dispatch means less wait time and sometimes lower cost.

Ask for a Quote Before Agreeing

Any reputable tow company will give you a ballpark over the phone. Get the base fee, per-km rate, and ask about surcharges. If they won’t give you a number, call someone else.
